Town of Eden Water Projects

Update for Water District No. 5 Project (January 2012)

On January 9, 2012, the Town's Engineering Consultants coordinated a meeting between all of the involved construction contractors and the Erie County Water Authority. The purpose of the meeting was to review and schedule all remaining construction activities and testing requirements for completion of WD No. 5. These activities include the completion, testing, startup and operation of the Shadagee Road pumping station, and the installation of water service connections along Ferrier, March and Shadagee Roads and hydrants along Shadagee Road.

Based on the collective and progressive constructive activities and the various testing and approval requirements, a target schedule was developed. Below is a summary of the anticipated steps to be completed that will bring water service to the residents in WD No.5. It is important to note that each step must be completed and tested successfully before subsequent activities can commence.

1. Flushing and Water Quality Sampling and Testing along Shadagee Road. This task is scheduled for the last two weeks in January. If results are negative, and water quality is acceptable for distribution, the pump station start up and testing can begin.

2. Pump Station Final Construction There are a number of final punch list items that must be completed by the contractors at the pumping station before start up can begin. These activities are anticipated to be completed by early February.

3. Shadagee Road Pump Station Startup and Testing Upon successful completion of final construction activities and water quality testing, the pump station start up and testing will be scheduled for early February. This will include a series of equipment tests followed by a 2 week period of operational testing and observation by the ECWA.

4. Water Main Interconnections Upon successful completion of pump station start up and testing, water main interconnections on Ferrier, March and Shadagee will be completed. This process is expected to take 1 to 2 weeks.

5. Service Connections & Hydrants Upon the successful interconnections of the water mains, the services along March, Ferrier and Shadagee will begin immediately. In addition, hydrants along Shadagee Road will be installed. This process is anticipated to run for 6 to 8 weeks.

Future updates will be provided as the project progresses.
