NOTES & FACTS FROM THE POLICE BLOTTER
  • A Florence Ave. woman reported that she and her pet dog were attacked by two dogs while walking on Hemlock Rd. The woman sustained a bite laceration to her hand and her Shitzu was killed in the attack. Four days later, a 13 year old Sunset Drive resident was walking past the home carrying a younger child when again one of the dogs ran through the electric fence and charged the children. The 13 year old blocked the path of the dog and was bitten about the hand. Police removed the one dog at that time and since then the Dog Control Warden has obtained a Court Order to remove the other dog pending a court hearing.

  • In the Month of May a 14 day period was set for vigorous enforcement of seat belt violators. The campaign was called "BUNY" - Buckle Up New York. This was set up by the Governor Pataki's Traffic Safety Committee. It was set to coincide with the National Campaign called "Buckle Up America". During this time period Officers are asked to show zero tolerance for restraint use violators. Eden Police did set up a number of traffic check points during this time and a total of 122 summons were issued.
