NOTES & FACTS FROM THE POLICE BLOTTER
- Reserve Officers Robert Brueggeman and Thomas Jones were selected as co-officers
of the month. They both volunteered for "Child-Print" which entailed two days of
volunteer time at the GLP school fingerprinting all in-coming students. This is the
third year the two completed this detail.
- D.A.R.E. Graduation was held Monday June 14th where each 5th grade student
was given Certificates and a gift. The following students also were awarded
medals for essays submitted on what they learned from the DARE Program.
Jackie McGrath, Holly Meyer, Kala Sam, Claire Smith, Lauren Rakiecki,
& Jason Byttner.
I would like to thank Officer Joseph Flynn of our Department and
Trooper Paul Sortisio for all the work and preparation they put into this class and
graduation program. Mr. Schaefer and his staff, Mrs. Maynard and Mrs. Galley for
the help they gave. Also, the Eden Reserve Police Unit and the Eden Safe and Drug Free Schools
Committee for the graduation gifts and to the PTA for the after event refreshments for the
students and their guests.
- June 3rd a report was taken of a large amount of cash in which was removed from an
unlocked vehicle on Randall Place.
- June 6th, arrested a Lackawanna man for marijuana possession at Kromers Mill.
Police were there in response to trespassers swimming in the creek. Eden Police
arrested 28 individuals for that offense in June. Kromers Mill is private property
and has been posted as such.
- Two juveniles where petitioned to Family Court for delinquency. If adults,
the charges would have been Burglary.
- A seventeen year old Eden youth was stopped for failure to stop at a stop sign
at 3 AM on June 20th. After Officers detected an odor of alcohol the driver was also
arrested for DWI. A further investigation has led to charges of Unauthorized Use of a
Motor Vehicle after police contacted the owner who was unaware his vehicle had been
stolen off Hunt Ave. A charge for Possession of Stolen Property was also placed on
the youth after items located in his possession were found to have been stolen from
unlocked vehicles parked on Hemlock road and Hunt Ave.
- A Buffalo woman reported her vehicle was damaged while parked in Eden.
Police have arrested an individual for Criminal Mischief for that offense.
- * The Eden Police Club held their Annual Bike Rodeo on June 5, 1999 at Eden Heights in
East Eden. Following is a list of winners at that event.*

Jillian Schreiber won the door prize, a bicycle donated by the American Legion Post 880.
** The Town of Eden Police Department held a child car seat check on June 30th at
the Eden Town Hall Complex. Forty Seven vehicles were inspected. Officers from the NYS
Police and Erie County Sheriff's department were most impressed with our set up. Thanks
to The Fire Department and Emergency Squad all inspections could be done inside.**
