NOTES & FACTS FROM THE POLICE BLOTTER
  • Lt. Michael Felschow was honored at an Erie County Stop DWI awards dinner for his work throughout the year in removing drunk/intoxicated drivers from the highways. Members of the police club also honored Mike for this achievement.

  • A police report was filed after a vehicle parked on E. Church Street rolled across the highway into a ravine. A 5 year old child left unattended in the vehicle was unhurt as the vehicle rolled down the embankment and overturned onto its roof. Child Protective Service was called to investigate the well-being of the child, and a summons for unlicensed operation was issued to the mother when investigating officers observed her driving another vehicle.

  • Three fires, all extinguished before serious damage, occurred in early May. Debris caught fire at a S. Main Street location when an employee using a torch ignited some leaves. The employee thought he extinguished the fire only to have it smolder near the wall which caught fire later. A Hemlock Road resident who discarded a pail of hot wood ash started a grass fire which then spread to the rear of the barn. Eden Fire extinguished that blaze. At the third call, police and firemen responded to a residence on Bauer Rd. Heavy smoke was observed in the home and personnel entered, locating the owner lying on the living room floor. The occupant had apparently fallen and was unable to get up. Burning food cooking on the stove caused the heavy smoke. EFD ventilated the home.
