EDEN POLICE DISPATCHER UNIT

Eden's Newest Dispatch Member...... Kim Soda shown below

Eight dispatchers, seven of them part-time, greatly assist in the work of
the Town of Eden police. Their duties are varied and vital to the smooth
running of the department.
Usually calls for help are answered by dispatchers who are knowledgeable
about police procedures and eager to solve the callers' problems.
Dispatchers are frequently selected from the Reserve Police as they are
already trained and as a thanks for past volunteer service.
Qualifications for dispatchers are many. They must be able to
obtain and relay the necessary information, whether minor or serious,
and fill out forms clearly and concisely. Moreover, they are required to
type, code and file reports as well as to coordinate and accelerate the
response of calls to the police, fire and ambulance companies and sometimes
to Mercy Flight. Clearly their work is vital and varied.
