On January 25, 1999, the Town of Eden was notified that our community has been chosen in the next round of municipalities to work with the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) towards a possible designation by the Federal Emergerncy Management Agency (FEMA) as a Project Impact community. These agencies, as well as other organizations are assisting the Town of Eden in assessing our community's risks and vulnerabilities, developing mitigation priorities and programs and identifying ways to involve the public and private sector in the process. Natural disasters effects everyone in our community. No individual, business, or oganization stands alone. Everyone needs to pull together if our community is to recover from the hardship of a natural disaster. The Town of Eden is committed to creating a "Disaster Resistance Community". By bringing together different parties and interests, our town has created a partnership referred to as the "Project Impact Steering Committee". Working with the Town of Eden Disaster Preparedness Committee, FEMA, SEMO, local government officials, businesses, non-profit organizations and citizens, the Town of Eden has planned a course of action that would protect families, homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure that are vital to ensure future prosperity.
