SPECIAL MEETING – EDEN TOWN BOARD

2795 EAST CHURCH STREET

EDEN, NEW YORK

NOVEMBER 5, 2003

7:30 P.M.

 

 

TOWN BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:

            GLENN R. NELLIS                -           SUPERVISOR

            MARY LOU PEW                   -           COUNCILWOMAN (Deputy Supervisor)

            GEORGE F. ZITTEL              -           COUNCILMAN         

            VINCENT V. VACCO            -           COUNCILMAN

            TIMOTHY J. WALKER         -           COUNCILMAN

Call to Order:

           

            Supervisor Nellis called the Special Meeting of the Eden Town Board to order at 7:30 P.M.

 

 

Pledge of Allegiance:

 

            Supervisor Nellis led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag followed by a moment of silence. 

 

 

 

 

New and Unfinished Business:

 

  1. Award of Bid – 1981 GMC Step Van Fire Truck

 

Supervisor Nellis stated that the bid opening was held on Thursday, October 30,

2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Town Clerk’s office and one bid was received from North Collins Cylinder Gas Co., Inc. in the amount of $6,055.00.  It was the recommendation of Paul Laing, Eden Fire Chief to award the bid to North Collins Cylinder Gas Co., Inc.

 

MOTION was by made Councilman Vacco to accept the bid from North Collins Cylinder Gas Co., Inc. in the amount of $6,055.00; seconded by Councilman Zittel; All “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.

 

MOTION was made by Councilman Vacco to close the Special Meeting of the Eden Town Board; seconded by Councilwoman Pew; All “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.  

 

            Supervisor Nellis closed the Special Meeting of the Eden Town Board at 7:35 P.M.

 

MOTION was made by Councilman Vacco to open the Public Hearing to review the proposed Budget of the Town of Eden For 2004; seconded by Councilwoman Pew; All “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.

 

            Supervisor Nellis opened the Public Hearing at 7:35 P.M.

 

 

 

PUBLIC HEARING

7:35 P.M.

 

            The purpose of the Public Hearing is to review the Proposed Budget of the Town of Eden for the year 2004.  The proposed tax rates for 2004 are:

           

                                                General          -           $2.03 per thousand

                                                Highway         -           $2.77 per thousand

                                                Light               -           $  .15 per thousand

                                                Fire                 -           $  .76 per thousand

                                                Garbage         -           $ 107.00 per household

 

            A home assessed at $100,000 would show a net increase of $41.00 on the Town’s portion of next year’s tax bill.

           

            Supervisor Nellis then opened the Public Hearing and stated that copies of the Proposed 2004 Budget had been made available in the Town Clerk’s office.  Supervisor Nellis then opened up the Public Hearing to residents present for their questions or comments.

 

            The following residents made comments regarding the proposed budget:

 

                        Wilbert Smutz, 3094 East Church Street

                        Ruth Szalasny, 3048 Belknap Road

                        Joe Klug, 7700 Bley Road

 

All persons desiring to be heard, having been heard, Supervisor Nellis closed the Public Hearing at 7:58 P.M.

 

MOTION was made by Councilwoman Pew to close the Public Hearing; seconded by Councilman Vacco; All “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.

 

MOTION was made by Councilwoman Pew to open the Special Meeting of the Eden Town Board; seconded by Councilman Vacco; All “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.

 

Adjournment:

 

MOTION was made by Councilman Zittel to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Eden Town Board; seconded by Councilwoman Pew; All – “Ayes”; Opposed? – None; Abstain? – None; Motion carried.

 

            Supervisor Nellis adjourned the Special Meeting of the Eden Town Board at 8:00 P.M.
